We make good choices
Baler Primary School’s Positive Behaviour Expectations
Positive Behaviour Support at Baler Primary School will strive to maintain a school culture which encourages a high standard of behaviour through a consistent and inclusive learning environment. We have a shared vision to enhance behaviours, social skills and academic achievement within out school community.
Baler Primary School began implementing PBS at the end of 2018. At Baler, we are committed to the implementation of a whole school approach to Positive Behaviour Support to create an environment that is engaging and ideal for learning. Our approach aligns academic and behaviour systems to create emphasis on explicitly teaching, monitoring and rewarding appropriate behaviour.
What is PBS
School-wide positive behaviour support is an individualised whole-school framework based on improving student academic and behaviour outcomes and ensuring that all students have access to the most effective and accurately implemented instructional and behavioural practices and interventions possible. The PBS approach is comprised of evidence-based behaviour interventions and practices that are implemented by staff to effectively address and support the social, educational and behavioural needs of students and their families.
The goal of a School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) at Baler Primary School is to establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment that enhances our school culture to maximise individual student academic and social growth.
Through the implementation of PBS, school wide systems are aligned to create an inclusive environment where there is a:
- Common purpose and approach to discipline
- Clear set of positive behaviour expectations
- Procedures for teaching expected behaviours
- Continuum of procedures for encouraging expected behaviours
- Continuum of procedures for discouraging inappropriate behaviour
- Procedures for data collection to ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation
